There were no clues about the dog or its owner, but John had found stairs going to the upper floor. The only chance left was for the dog to go up there. They heard barking while they looked at the ceiling.

They rushed upstairs and saw the Labrador on a bed. It wasn’t alone. Next to it, an old and weak man was petting the dog. He didn’t look up when they entered the room, and he was in pretty bad shape.
