People born with natural red hair are rare, but those who are born with red hair and blue eyes are even rarer. Some studies have shown that the chance of having both natural red hair and blue eyes is only 0.17% . Both traits are recessive, so being born with both is incredibly uncommon. In order for a baby to be born with blue eyes and red hair, both parents must carry the MC1R gene and the blue eye gene.
