In this photo we get a glimpse into the behind the scenes of the life of a geisha. Though it was taken in 1905, it could have easily been taken today. The geisha is off-duty, without any makeup on, and with her long, beautiful hair down. It was very uncommon for geishas to be seen without their full makeup, hair, and traditional dress.
