First Playground Slide
It wasn’t until 1922 that the first playground slide was invented. This slide was built by Charles Wickstead and made out of planks of wood. Back then, slides were separate for boys and girls, though sometimes kids got around that rule, just like in this photo.
Buran Soviet Spacecraft
During the Cold War, the US and Soviet Union were in a constant race to beat one another, and this included getting to space quickly with the best technology possible. You can see the Soviet space shuttle, Buran, being built in 1982 in a factory in Moscow. It was later moved to the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan.
