Yucca Mountain Nuclear Waste Repository
The Yucca Mountain Nuclear Waste Repository is a proposed deep geological repository meant to house spent nuclear fuel as well as other radioactive waste. The project was approved in 2002 but was later the funding was cut in 2011. The Government Accountability Office has said that it was closed for political reasons and not due to safety issues.
