The Impossible Whopper, Burger King’s new plant-based burger patty has officially been rolled out at the fast-food joint nationwide. The plant-based Whopper copycat has caused quite a bit of buzz, but is it really worth the hype?

Does It Really Taste The Same?
Right off the bat, the Impossible Whopper literally stands up to its iconic non-veggie predecessor. The Whopper, which debuted in 1975, stacks a quarter pound of beef along with tomatoes, sliced white onion, mayo, ketchup, pickles, and of course, the sesame seed bun. The Impossible alternative also measures up at a quarter pound, just instead of meat, the patty is made of plant-based protein.
It may be difficult to believe that a plant-based protein can taste so similar to meat. Perhaps the taste of veggie burgers lingers in the air, but the meat substitute from Impossible Foods is a whole different animal (no pun intended). The experts there have engineered the Impossible patty to mimic the flavor of meat. So, did they do so successfully?

The Impossible Whopper With Cheese
Megan Schaltegger of Delish set out to test the Impossible Whopper and raved about it. She said: “I took bite after bite and had to do a quick double check on the receipt that I wasn’t in fact eating meat. It tasted nearly identical to an OG Whopper.”
Her co-workers agreed, with one saying: “It was so good! Honestly very convincing as meat. Def[initely] satisfies the fast food craving.”
What do you think, will you be trying the Impossible Whopper anytime soon?
